According to PositivePsychology.com, there are many benefits of mindful living. It decreases the stress level, enhances the ability to deal with illness and depression. It also helps in facilitating recovery and much more.

Making healthy choices such as:
➡ including more leafy vegetables in a daily diet,
➡ using a staircase instead of an elevator,
➡ adding some workout routines to the daily schedule & so on
leads to a healthy, active and flexible body. But it will only help in reaching a particular number on a scale, not an overall health profile which however begins on the inside.

Hence, for long-lasting health incorporating a few things in the daily schedule/regime truly help to live life with mindfulness. Some of them are:

1. Clear out the clutter

Clothes and items that have not been used for a certain period of time, say a year, are unlikely to be used again. Donate it to someone who needs it as it helps people in need. What is useless to you, might be of great use to someone else.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

Practice the habit of tidying up. It can bring a big change in your surroundings and within you as well.

It will help you feel confident about your decision-making skills. It will also create a sense of responsibility. Hence, you will start feeling like an adult. Besides, if you are moving you save money as hiring people to do the shifting work can be expensive. Decluttering your environment plays a role in decluttering your mind.

University of Tennessee medical center’s research shows that it can provide benefits to your overall well-being.

Get rid of clutter and you may just find that it was blocking the door you’ve been looking for” – Katrina Mayer

2. Vow of silence

Similarly, not speaking for an hour in a day is also one of the best things that can be added to the daily routine for good health. Provided, it is done in a respectful manner.

Also called Mauna Vrata in Sanskrit which means the practice of silence. It also means the practice of thinking positively, having patience and be ignorant.

“You cannot control the results, only your actions.”
– Allan Lokos

For mindful living one’s speech should be pure and it comes with forcing oneself to think silently. It is a way of watching and identifying thoughts and reflecting on them.
By doing it every single day leads to mastering one’s tongue as one will be able to weigh one’s words before speaking.

Consequently, words coming out of the mouth will be good and helpful to the listener thereby leaving no trace of guilt on the speaker.

“A big part of being silent is being the recipient, not the broadcaster,” Francis says, as stated by The New York Times Magazine.

Try to practice silence every day for an hour. Start with one day a week and gradually increase hours and days. There is so much power in this practice if done regularly results in spiritual awakening, healing and enlightening.

➡ You’ll see a huge difference within and around you.
➡ You will be surprised by the change.
➡ You’ll see a different you, more productive, happier, more patient, more aware and less anxious.

It is so simple that anyone can do it and reap the benefit/ prosper. For practicing it comfortably, inform everyone around that you are on Maun-Vrata, it will help. Also, practice with a smile on your face 😊

3. Stretch yourself

Add some stretching exercises in your daily routine, a minimum of 10 minutes. Stretching from top to the bottom can do wonders on your overall health.

Comically speaking, our body is similar to a machine and some parts if not stretched for months can rust.

As a result, your body may have to face some major health problems. There will be a risk of injury all the time for instance muscle degeneration, poor blood circulation e.t.c which may lead to many other health issues.

“The little things? The little moments? They aren’t little.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn

On the other hand, adding stretches in the daily schedule have great perks and benefits.
➡ It is anti-aging, as you not only feel active throughout the day like a teenager but also improves body posture.
➡ Further keeping one away from all medical problems.
➡ It will generate positivity both mental and physical that can literally be life-altering.

Moreover, one will attain a mysterious calm, a deep solace within oneself.

4. Engage with People

Having clear communication not only with the people one lives with but also friends/relatives/neighbors is like a magic wand as open and honest communication not only builds a strong and healthy relationship but also mend relationships in difficult times.

In addition, it will gear towards a big advancement in your social, personal and professional life. How?

We are not robots that have no feelings and who work on a system or coding. We are human breaking news!
We feel, we have emotions, we love to share, we love to be loved and accepted. Sometimes all you need is simple communication, one on one!

Assuming that everyone is busy is a stupid excuse a person gives for himself and others, don’t do that. If you want, you will get time/way.

Where there’s a will there’s the way!

If you haven’t seen them for several days, it’s okay to knock on their door asking: how they are doing? Inviting them for lunch without any reason/occasion or as simple as having a cup of tea/coffee with them Or just sending an e-mail/text.

Do not do this only at the time of crisis or uncertainty. This will never help in creating a positive atmosphere. Consequently, affecting your social, emotional and mental health in a bad way.

Similarly, getting caught up in a superficial relationship which is often seen on social networking sites; liking pics, sending love emojis and whatnot has a negative effect too on one’s well being.

Thanks to the platforms we have in our hands. We have time for all of this, but we do not have the time to connect in a thoughtful/real way. Stop being superficial!
In spite, be authentic and genuine!

For any relationship to grow strong, you need to put in some work. Just call, communicate, listen, share in a sensible manner to show that you care.
By and large, make a balance between both.

“Treat everyone you meet as if they were you.” – Doug Dillon

It is as simple as it sounds. More time engaged with people will release built-up tension, gain new insight into the situation. Moreover, one’s relationship will be smoother, stronger activating/promoting positivity in the surrounding and within you.

5. Practice Gratitude

One should always feel gratitude towards the loved ones. Also, to those who have hurt and left in the cold. Every person you meet/experience situations in your life happens for a reason.

Deleting bad/negative thoughts about people and situations will empower and help you heal. The process will be less painful, indeed.
As a result, you will be able to move forward and reclaim happiness and peace in your life.

Practice gratitude towards them, Owing to the fact that they all have contributed somewhere and in some way to your life. In fact, you are the result of all your past experiences, both good and bad.

Negative thinking about people/situations is toxic and has the power to lower your vibration. And, in most cases, it only attracts bad things, negative thoughts and wrong people in one’s life.

“What would it be like if I could accept life – accept this moment – exactly as it is?” – Tara Brach

Being thankful and grateful has the greatest power in letting go of the past/people/situations as it will only lead to spreading positivity around. Hence, it makes the person not only more aware, more mindful and more forgiving but also responsible for one’s own actions.

Practicing gratitude will help you through, you will stay happy and content in your life. Again, a great tool to improve overall health.

On the whole

Living with mindfulness means living with your highest and best self. It is an opportunity to heal and comes with some impressive health benefits including spiritual, psychological, social and physical.

According to dictionary.com, mindfulness is a technique one focuses one’s full attention only on the present, experiencing thoughts, feelings, and sensations and not judging them.

In order to optimize your life, be impartial, be present, be mindful of one’s responsibility and most importantly be human.
